Optimizing a PDP (Product Description Page)

When you connect your Shopify store to FERMÀT, your products will automatically sync within the Products Module of FERMÀT dashboard.

To ensure they drive conversions and match your brand’s website experience, you’ll want to fine-tune and customize them.

Don’t worry—it’s simple! You'll learn how to make your PDPs stand out below:


1) Named Sections

These sections are perfect for displaying detailed product information. You can choose between two formats:

  • Horizontal Named Sections: Information is displayed in a scrolling or tab-like format. Hidden details can be revealed by clicking or scrolling.

  • Accordion Named Sections: Information is shown in collapsible sections that expand when clicked, saving space and keeping the page clean.

When to use them:

  • Use Accordions for detailed, content-heavy needs, especially when addressing customer objections.

  • Use Horizontal Sections for extra info that’s easy to discover without cluttering the page.

How to add them:

  1. Go to the Layout tab.

  2. Click "Add Module" and choose either "Named Section Accordions" or "Horizontal Named Sections."

  3. Drag it to the desired location and save your changes.


2) Text

The Text module lets you add text-based content to your PDP in FERMÀT, ideal for sharing important information. You can customize your content using the text editor to bold, highlight, add bullet points, or even include images and media.


3) Highlighting Key Features, Value Propositions, or Social Proof

FERMÀT offers several tools to emphasize important product details, benefits, or social proof on your PDP:

  1. Chips Module:
    Use Chips to highlight key features like free shipping, product benefits, or other important details.

  2. Icon Group:
    Similar to Chips but includes logos or icons for added emphasis, making your message stand out even more.

  3. Badges:
    Add badges like “Best Seller” or “New Arrival” to draw attention to products.

    • Navigate to the Settings tab in the PDP editor.

    • Select Badges to choose a premade badge or upload your own.

    • Note: Only one badge can be added per product. For additional emphasis, consider using the Chip or Icon Group modules.

These modules help you effectively showcase your product's key features, value propositions, or social proof to drive customer engagement and trust.


4) Adding Images and Videos to Your PDP

Enhance your PDP with Images, GIFs, or Videos using the Media module in FERMÀT. These elements improve engagement, provide visual information, and make your PDP more dynamic and colorful.

To add media:

  1. Select the Media module in the PDP editor.

  2. Click the "Add Media" button to upload your content.

Incorporating media like infographics or videos can effectively highlight key features and improve the overall customer experience.


5) Customizing Reviews for Your PDP

FERMÀT allows you to highlight the most impactful reviews for your products, giving you full control over what customers see. This feature lets you select reviews that resonate with specific customer personas or highlight key product use cases, building trust and driving conversions.

To add or update reviews, navigate to Funnels > Products > Select Product > Settings > Reviews.

6) Improving PDP Aesthetics: Adding Custom Images and Updating Color Swatches

With FERMÀT, you can enhance the visual appeal of your PDP by customizing product images and color swatches. Here's how:

Custom Images for PDP

  • Go to the Settings tab of the product.

  • Select Image Mapping to add or remove images for each product or variant.

  • Save your changes to display the perfect visuals.

Updating Color Swatches

You can enhance your PDP by configuring color swatches, making it easier for customers to choose their preferred options.

  • How to Configure:
    Go to the Settings tab > Variant Selectors > Selector Type, and set it to Color Swatch.

  • Add Colors:

    • Enter the Hex Code for the color or paste a public link if using an image for the swatch.

  • Organize Colors:
    Use the Swatch Category option to group colors into categories like "All Colors" or "Best Sellers," allowing customers to filter and navigate more easily.

This customization improves usability and enhances the shopping experience on your PDP.


7) Configuring Subscriptions

Want to make subscriptions more appealing? Use FERMÀT to showcase savings, perks, and benefits.

  1. Go to the Settings tab and select Subscription Settings.

  2. Adjust the configuration to fit your product and subscription offers.


8) Creating Product Clones

You can create different versions of the same Shopify product for different sales funnels.
