PDP Modules Explained

In this article we will be covering what each of the PDP modules allow you to build

Updated over 9 months ago

When building a PDP within FERMÀT you have a huge collection of popular modules that you can drag and drop to quickly create a details page that is both on brand and highly effective.

In this article we're going to give you a summary of the module types you have at your disposal.

Banner

What is it?

Add a text based banner that spans the length of the page.

When to use it

Use a banner when there is something that you want to say as it relates to the module directly above it. These usually call attention to a very specific benefit.

Text

What is it?

A module that simply allows you to add a text based section to your PDP

When to use it

When you have something to say with words ;)

Reviews

What is it?

A module that allows you to display your best reviews.

When to use it

When you have high quality reviews that you can highlight. Use reviews where the customer speaks directly to some of the most common purchase objections such as fit, size, or color being true to visuals.

Callout

What is it?

This module allows you to highlight a single point with a title, and then follow it up with sub-text.

When to use it

Use a callout when there is a very specific benefit you want to draw attention to. It can also be used to give a different section more of a title and subheading experience.

Icon Group

What is it?

Place icons in a row to call out important selling features of your product.

When to use it

If your product has particular benefits or certifications that are important to your customer such as cruelty free for cosmetics or nut free for food.

Media

What is it?

Add a video or visual to your PDP.

When to use it

If you have anything you want to show that doesn't belong in a product carousel, this is your module.

Chips

What is it?

Similar to an Icon Group, Chips allow you to highlight specific features or talking points using a badge and text.

When to use it

Use it when you have a list of quick hitting features to showcase, or to show that a particular product is part of something bigger like a limited release or group.

Media Carousel

What is it?

Similar to a product carousel except it's not tied to a product for purchase so that you can easily display multiple images without taking up too much page space

When to use it

Use this if you have more than two photos that you need to display that are related to your product but aren't actually product specific shots. This could be visuals of sponsored athletes as an example.

Accordion

What is it?

A way for you to house lots of additional product information that the customer can choose to click into for more information.

When to use it.

If you know of a list of potential objections you can use an accordion to answer each of them while taking up minimal space. Use this module to go content heavy without being real estate heavy.

Horizontal Sections

What is it?

Similar to Accordions the Horizontal Section allows you to display lots of information that is not shown unless you select the section or scroll to the right.

When to use it

These sections are best for when you need to have certain information displayed and discoverable but you don't want to draw a ton of attention to it. If you want customers to explore each section in more detail we recommend using an accordion

Variant Selector

What is it?

Gives your customers the ability to customize what variant or variant combination they want, color and size as an example.

When to use it

Include this module for any product that has variants.

Product Carousels

There are two versions of the product carousel that you can use. While it does come down to preference, we have seen the large product image version be more successful at driving add to carts for apparel brands.

Product Image Carousel

What is it?

This module allows you to place a carousel of product images within the PDP. It is detached from other modules such as variant selector that need to be applied separately

When to use it

This carousel is best when images beyond the first are vital for understanding what the product is. Examples could be a hoodie with a print on the back or supplements that require a customer to easily see the ingredient list.

Large Product Image Carousel

What is it?

This module rolls a few other modules into one. It gives you the ability to include multiple images without displaying each (you can scroll between them) and places the variant selector in view of the image for better apparel conversion.

When to use it

This carousel is best when the product you are highlighting can be understood though the variant selector such as size and color without needing to scroll through multiple images. We have seen this be very effective for basics in apparel (tshirts and pants)

Add to Cart Button

Just add one! It's the whole reason you directed a customer to the PDP.
