AI Search Free Trial: Getting Started and Succeeding

This article walks through what is included in FERMÀT’s AI Search Free Trial and how to get the most value out of it.

Updated this week

What's in this guide:

1. What you get in the AI Search Free Trial

1.1 Core capabilities (for everyone)

Whether or not you are an ecommerce brand, the free trial includes:

  • AI visibility tracking

    • Monitor how your brand shows up across major LLMs for a curated set of branded, non-branded, and competitor prompts

    • See visibility scores and trends at the prompt level

    • View which domains are being cited in answers

  • Content generation

    • Generate AI-optimized long-form content tied to specific prompts

    • Review, edit, and approve or reject drafts before using them

    • Apply Brand Voice and guardrails so content reflects what you can and cannot say

  • Analytics and insights

    • Understand which prompts are driving visibility

    • See which third-party domains and competitors dominate citations

    • Use that information to decide where to create or refine content

The rest of the experience depends on whether you are an ecommerce brand connecting your ecommerce platform, or a non-ecommerce brand.

1.2 If you are an ecommerce brand

AI Search is built first and foremost for ecommerce brands that sell products online.

Connect your ecommerce platform (recommended)

If you connect your ecommerce platform (e.g., Shopify), you unlock:

  • Shoppable, AI-optimized content

    • Up to 20 shoppable articles generated during your free trial

    • Each article tied to a prompt and a product to reach consumers as they’re discovering products through conversations with answer engines

    • Live product data and inventory pulled from your catalog

    • “Shop Now” or “Add to Cart” CTAs that drive directly to your PDP or checkout

  • Hosted hub on FERMÀT’s subdomain

    • Articles are hosted on a dedicated hub, for example shopfermat.com/sf/yourbrand

    • This hub can be linked from your site footer so LLM crawlers discover and index content more easily

  • Richer optimization signals

    • Because AI Search can see your products, categories, and inventory, it can:

      • Propose better prompts to track

      • Generate more relevant recommendations and bundles

      • Align content more closely with what you actually sell

Short version: If you are an ecommerce brand, connecting your ecommerce platform makes the content more robust, shoppable, and useful for both visibility and conversion.

Going beyond the 20-article cap

During the trial, connected ecommerce brands can:

  • Generate up to 20 shoppable articles and host them on shopfermat.com/sf/yourbrand

  • After you hit that cap, you can still:

    • Generate AI-optimized static HTML pages

    • Download the HTML from FERMÀT

    • Host these pages on your own site wherever you prefer

These HTML pages will not be shoppable in the same way as the connected experience, since they are not dynamically pulling product data, but they still carry all

the AI-optimized copy and structure designed for LLMs.

Upgrade for more flexibility: The paid version removes the 20-article cap and lets you host unlimited fully shoppable experiences.

1.3 If you are a non-ecommerce brand (or choose not to connect your platform)

If you are not an ecommerce brand, or you prefer not to connect an ecommerce platform during the trial, you still get value from AI Search.

You will be able to:

  • Track AI visibility, prompts, and citations

  • Generate AI-optimized HTML content that you can download and host on your own site

How it works:

  • FERMÀT generates AI-optimized static HTML pages tied to your chosen prompts

  • You can:

    • Download the HTML file for each page

    • Upload it into your CMS or website builder

    • Style or wrap it in your own templates if needed

  • These pages are still designed to be rich, text-heavy resources that answer natural-language questions, which makes them more attractive to LLM crawlers

This flow is ideal for:

  • Non-ecommerce brands (for example B2B SaaS, services, content businesses)

  • Teams that want to test AI-optimized content on their own domain before committing to a deeper integration

2. Getting Set Up

The trial starts with a lightweight onboarding flow designed to give you visibility quickly while letting you choose when to connect deeper integrations like your ecommerce platform.

Step 1: Activate your trial through the Stripe link

  1. Click the Stripe activation link found on FERMÀT’s website.

  2. Complete the short form to confirm your brand details.

  3. Once you submit, you’ll automatically receive an onboarding email from FERMÀT with a link to access your dashboard. This email may end up in spam, so don’t forget to check all folders.

This step unlocks your AI visibility dashboard and kicks off your free trial.

Step 2: Complete the onboarding flow

When you first log into FERMÀT, you’ll be guided through a short onboarding designed to set up your initial visibility analysis and prompt monitoring.

You’ll be asked to:

  • Link your website

Add your main domain so FERMÀT can understand how you currently appear across the web and how LLMs reference your brand.

  • Add competitors

Add up to 50 competitors so visibility and citations can be measured across your broader category landscape.

  • Set up your Brand Voice

Add the phrases, claims, and messaging guidelines you can and cannot say. This ensures all generated content reflects your brand and compliance requirements.

Once these steps are complete, FERMÀT generates your initial visibility report, identifies the early set of prompts worth tracking, and begins refreshing visibility weekly during your free trial.

Step 3: (Recommended for ecommerce brands) Sync your ecommerce platform

If you are an ecommerce brand using Shopify or Salesforce Commerce Cloud, we strongly recommend connecting your platform after onboarding.

This unlocks:

  • Shoppable content generation

Articles can pull live product data, inventory, variants, images, and pricing.

  • Better prompt recommendations

FERMÀT can identify product-specific gaps and opportunities for high-intent prompts.

  • A fully functional AI articles hub

Hosted on shopfermat.com/sf/yourbrand, with a clear path to purchase.

Without this connection, you can still generate AI-optimized static HTML content, but you won’t get the shoppable experience that drives conversions and increases likelihood of LLMs indexing the pages generated.

Step 4: Review your initial articles and visibility insights

Once onboarding is complete and integrations are set:

  • The first set of 10 articles will appear in your “Approved” section

  • You can edit each article generated by FERMÀT by selecting the three dots under actions

  • You’ll see visibility insights across branded, non-branded, and competitor prompts by selecting “Prompt Report” and clicking “View Prompt Analytics”

  • You can add additional prompts at any time to expand monitoring by navigating to “Prompts” on the left side and selecting “Edit.” Scroll to the bottom of the tracking page and “Add Prompt” and “Save Prompts” to add additional prompts.

3. Tips and tricks to succeed in your free trial

Tip 1: If you are an ecommerce brand, sync your ecommerce platform

If you only do one thing, do this.

  • Syncing your ecommerce platform unlocks shoppable pages on shopfermat.com/yourbrand.

  • Articles can promote specific products with live pricing, stock, and variant options.

  • You can attribute conversions that originate from AI-optimized content more clearly.

Without the ecommerce connection, you can still test visibility and content, but it becomes harder to prove impact on revenue.

Tip 2: Link shopfermat.com/sf/yourbrand in your site footer

For LLMs, backlinks from your main domain are a strong signal of authority. Linking from your site helps shopfermat.com/yourbrand get discovered and indexed faster.

Recommended pattern

  • URL: https://shopfermat.com/sf/yourbrand. The exact link will be available in the “Content Aggregator Page” section.

  • Label ideas:

    • “Articles”

    • “Product Guides”

    • “Journal”

    • “Blogs”

  • The page must land on “404: Site Not Found” today in order for it to work effectively.

  • Tip 3: Prioritize the right prompts for your first 20 articles

You only have 20 articles in the free trial, so prioritization matters. Use them where they will have the most impact.

    Start with non-branded, high-intent prompts

Non-branded prompts are often the hardest to win but the most valuable. Examples:

    • “Best high-protein bread for breakfast”

    • “Energy drink powder for early morning workouts”

    • “Healthy alternatives to [category] for [specific use case]”

Focus your first wave of articles on prompts that:

    • Reflect real shopping intent, not just research

    • Align with your hero products and core categories

    • Map to queries you are already paying for in paid search or social

Cover key branded and “switch” moments

Use a smaller portion of your 20 articles for prompts like:

    • “Is [your brand] good for [specific need]”

    • “Is [your brand] better than [competitor] for [use case]”

    These help:

    • Control the narrative when people already know your brand

    • Influence “switch” decisions when you are compared to a competitor

    Avoid spreading too thin

    Common pitfalls:

    • Creating one article per tiny edge case

    • Writing for very low-volume questions

    • Splitting the 20 articles evenly across dozens of minor SKUs

    Instead:

    • Anchor around 3–5 core use cases that matter most to your business

    • Tie each article to:

      • A specific prompt

      • One or a small set of priority products

      • A clear conversion path (add to cart or shop now)
