Subscription settings allow you to control selling plans, show subscription savings, customize styling, and choose whether products are subscription-only or available for one-time purchase. This guide covers everything from enabling subscriptions at the shop level to configuring subscription-only and one-time-purchase-only PDPs.
What’s in this guide
Why Offer Subscriptions
Subscriptions allow your customers to purchase products on a recurring basis, helping increase retention, convenience, and lifetime value.
By enabling subscriptions in FERMÀT, you unlock support for:
Subscribe & Save PDP layouts
Subscription-only products
Delivery schedule display
Subscription badges, styling, and value props
FERMÀT uses your Shopify subscription setup and displays it seamlessly within your funnels and PDPs.
Prerequisites for Subscriptions
Before enabling subscriptions in FERMÀT, make sure:
A subscription app is installed in Shopify.
Popular options include:Your product is configured for subscriptions in Shopify.
In Shopify, open the product → Purchase Options → choose your subscription app → configure selling plans such as:Delivery frequency
Subscription discounts
One-time purchase availability
Shopify syncs changes to FERMÀT.
After updating subscription settings in Shopify, FERMÀT will sync automatically.
This can take up to one hour depending on Shopify update timings.
Once synced, subscription plans become available for configuration inside your PDP’s Purchase Options & Pricing section.
Enable Subscriptions at the Shop Level
You must enable subscriptions at the shop level before any PDP can use them.
Navigate to Settings in the left navigation.
Open Shop Defaults.
Select Subscriptions.
Toggle Shopify Subscriptions ON.
When this toggle is enabled, FERMÀT will:
Allow subscription settings to appear in PDP configuration
Pull subscription selling plans from Shopify
Display subscription options such as Subscribe & Save, delivery schedule, and value props
You can always override subscription settings on a per-product basis in the PDP’s Purchase Options & Pricing panel, covered in the next section.
Configure Subscriptions on a PDP
To configure subscriptions inside FERMÀT and control how purchase options appear on your PDP:
Select the Product
Navigate to the product you want to configure from the Products section.Access Subscription Settings
Open the Settings panel on the right.
Select Purchase Options & Pricing to open the subscription configuration module.
Managing Selling Plans & Variants
1. Manage Selling Plans
Under the Purchase Options tab, you can enable or disable any subscription selling plans synced from Shopify.
This includes:
Delivery frequencies (e.g., every month, every 2 months)
Subscription discounts
One-time purchase availability
You can now toggle One-Time Purchase on/off to create subscription-only PDPs.
Only the selling plans you toggle on will appear to customers.
2. Manage Subscription Variants
In the Variants tab, you can control subscription visibility at the variant level.
This includes:
Enabling/disabling each selling plan per variant
Managing subscription prices per variant
Allowing certain flavors/scents/colors to be subscription-only
Variant-level control ensures subscription options appear correctly for each SKU.
Customizing Subscription Display
1. Customize Subscription Display (Styles)
In the Styles tab, you can fully control how subscription options look on the PDP.
You can configure:
Badge Text (e.g., “Best Value”, “Most Popular”)
Badge Color (choose any highlight color)
Active Selection Color (color shown when a plan is selected)
Show Delivery Schedule toggle
Subscription Option Style
Compact View
Expanded View
Expanded styling controls allow deeper customization over badge appearance, plan arrangement, and visual hierarchy.
2. Update Subscription Option Label
Use the Subscription Option Label field to rename how your subscription option appears.
Examples:
Auto-Ship
Subscribe & Save
Fast Delivery Refill
You can also enable Compare-at Price to highlight the savings between subscription and one-time purchase.
3. Add Value Propositions
Under Create a Selling Point, you can add benefit callouts to increase subscription appeal.
Examples:
Save 10% on every order
Free shipping on recurring purchases
Cancel anytime
Priority delivery every 30 days
These appear beneath subscription options on the PDP.
Subscription-Only PDPs
Sometimes you may want customers to subscribe to a product, and only subscribe, without offering a one-time purchase option. A subscription-only PDP means a product can only be purchased as a subscription, not as a one-time item. Customers visiting the page will only see a subscription option at checkout.
When to Use a Subscription-Only PDP
Subscription-only setups are a great fit when:
The product is best used regularly (like supplements, coffee, skincare, or pet supplies).
You want to encourage long-term relationships and increase customer lifetime value (LTV).
You want to simplify the decision-making process for customers.
Offering subscriptions-only can help improve retention and reduce checkout friction.
Option 1: Remove One-Time Purchase for the Entire Product
Head to the Products page in your FERMÀT dashboard.
Choose the product you want to update.
On the right-hand panel click on Settings and go to the Purchase Options.
In the Purchase Options tab, toggle off the “One Time Purchase” option.
Option 2: Remove One-Time Purchase for Specific Variants Only
In that same panel, switch to the Variants tab.
Find the variant(s) where you only want to show subscriptions.
Toggle off the “One Time Purchase” option just for those.
Once you’ve saved your changes, here’s what the product page experience will look like for your customers:
One-Time-Purchase-Only PDPs
Sometimes you want shoppers to purchase a product only as a one-time purchase, without seeing any subscription plans. A one-time-purchase-only PDP means a product can only be bought one time, not through a subscription. Customers visiting the page will see only the One-Time Purchase option, without delivery schedules or subscription discounts.
When to Use One-Time-Purchase-Only PDPs
This setup works best when:
The product is not meant for recurring use (e.g., accessories, apparel, home décor, gifts, etc.).
You want a cleaner, simpler checkout experience without subscription decisions.
You want to increase upfront conversions instead of recurring plans.
You want to avoid shopper confusion caused by mixed subscription & non-subscription options.
Removing subscription plans can help reduce choice overload and streamline the buying journey.
Remove Subscriptions for the Entire Product
Head to the Products page in your FERMÀT dashboard.
Choose the product you want to update.
On the right-hand panel click Settings, then go to Purchase Options & Pricing.
In the Variants tab, toggle OFF all subscription plans (e.g., “Deliver every month,” “Deliver every 2 months,” etc.).
Leave One-Time Purchase toggled ON.
Once all subscription plans are turned off, the PDP will automatically default to a one-time-purchase-only experience.
Remove Subscriptions for Specific Variants Only
If only certain variants should support subscription:
In the same panel, switch to the Variants tab.
Find the specific variant(s) you want to be one-time-purchase-only.
Toggle OFF the subscription plans for those variants.
Keep subscriptions enabled for other variants if needed.
This gives you precise merchandising control.
Once saved, the PDP will display a clean one-time purchase module to shoppers, without any subscription-related UI elements like delivery schedules, badges, or discounts.
Finalizing and Previewing Changes
1. Save and Preview
Click Save Changes to apply updates.
Refresh your PDP preview to confirm:
Subscription label
Badge style
Delivery schedule
Discount visibility
Subscription-only mode (if enabled)
2. Front-End View (Optional)
Preview the storefront version to confirm:
Subscription callouts
Compare-at prices

The correct option is shown first
One-time purchase is hidden (if subscription-only is enabled)
Everything should match your brand experience and the configuration in FERMÀT.
