Customize Compare-at Prices

Learn how to set unique compare-at prices per product variant and selling plan to control discount displays on your PDP.

Updated over a week ago

Want to show exactly how much customers are saving based on product size or subscription plan? Now you can.

FERMÀT lets you customize compare-at prices per variant and selling plan — so you can control how discounts appear on your product detail pages (PDPs) for one-time purchases, subscriptions, or both.

What’s in this guide

What Are Compare-at Prices?

Compare-at prices are used to show a higher “original” price next to the actual selling price on your PDP, typically formatted as a strike-through price or a “Save X” tag.

In FERMÀT, you can now control these prices per variant and per selling plan, giving you precise control over how value is communicated across:

  • Sizes

  • Flavors

  • Subscription frequencies

  • One-time vs. recurring offers

When to Use This Feature

Tailoring compare-at prices allows you to:

  • Emphasize higher savings for subscription or bulk-buy plans

  • Highlight perceived value for premium or fast-moving variants

  • Run pricing experiments directly on your PDP

  • Mirror your on-site pricing logic more closely inside FERMÀT

This is especially useful for brands offering multiple sizes, delivery plans, or one-time vs. subscription pricing options.

How to Set Compare-at Prices in FERMÀT

  1. Open the product’s PDP editor from your FERMÀT dashboard

  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Select Purchase Options & Pricing.

  4. In the drawer, open the Variants tab.

  5. For each variant and selling plan, enter a Compare-at Price in the right column.

  6. Click Save Settings.

Once saved, your PDP will dynamically update the discount shown based on the selected variant or subscription plan.

Example: Size-Based Discounts on the PDP

Let’s say your base PDP price is $28, and you want to highlight different savings by size.

You set the compare-at prices as:

  • Size L → Compare-at: $60

  • Size M → Compare-at: $50

Result:

  • When a shopper selects Size L, the PDP displays:

    “Save $32”

  • When they select Size M, it updates to:

    “Save $22”

This helps reinforce perceived value and drives action, especially when testing different pricing strategies or pushing higher-margin SKUs.
