Expanded Purchase Options

Configure how subscription options display on PDPs with Compact or Expanded views

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Subscription brands now have enhanced flexibility in how they display purchase options on their Product Detail Pages (PDPs). Choose between two display styles to optimize for your specific product offerings and maximize conversions.

What's in this guide:

Feature Overview

The Expanded Purchase Options feature gives you two ways to present subscription and one-time purchase choices to your customers:

  • Compact View: Ideal for brands with many subscription frequencies (3+)

  • Expanded View: Perfect for showcasing fewer options with maximum visibility

Both views are fully customizable and only display frequency options that are enabled for the selected product variant.

Compact View

The Compact view streamlines your purchase options into two clean rows:

  1. One Time Purchase

  2. Subscriptions (with a dropdown selector for frequency)

Customizable Elements

When using Compact view, you can customize the following display elements for the Subscriptions section:

Subscription Option Label

The main text for the subscription option

Selling Points

Supporting text to highlight subscription benefits

Default Frequency

Which frequency option appears selected by default

Badge Text and Color

Eye-catching labels like "Save 20%" or "Best Value"

Compare-at Price

Show savings compared to one-time purchase

Active Selection Color

Customize the highlight color for selected options

When to Use Compact View

This view works best when:

  • Your brand offers more than 3 delivery frequencies for subscriptions

  • Mobile optimization is a priority

  • You prefer a simplified decision-making process for customers

Note: Editing these elements only affects content displayed in FERMÀT funnels, not your main site.

Best Practices:

  • Write clear, benefit-focused selling points that apply to all frequencies

  • Use a compelling badge (e.g., "Subscribe & Save 15%")

  • Set your most popular frequency as the default

Expanded View

The Expanded view displays each subscription frequency as its own distinct selector, giving every option equal visibility in the Purchase Options section.

Customizable Elements

For each subscription frequency in Expanded view, you can customize:

Title

The main label for each frequency option

Subtitle (Selling Points)

Supporting text unique to each frequency

Compare-at Price

Savings specific to each subscription tier

Badge Text and Color

Custom labels for each option

Active Selection Color

Highlight color for the selected frequency

When to Use Expanded View

This view is ideal when:

  • Your brand offers fewer than 4 delivery frequencies

  • You want to maximize average order value (AOV) or subscription rate

  • Each frequency has distinct benefits worth highlighting

  • You want shoppers to see all options upfront without clicking

Pro Tip: Use Expanded view to guide customers toward your most profitable subscription tier by making it visually prominent.

Best Practices:

  • Create unique value propositions for each frequency

  • Use graduated savings to incentivize longer commitments

  • Make your recommended option visually stand out with badges

Configuration Settings

Access these settings through:

PDP Editor > Settings > Purchase Options & Pricing > Styles tab

Display Options

Configure how your purchase options appear:

  • View Selection: Toggle between Expanded and Compact views

  • Default Frequency: Choose which subscription frequency is pre-selected

  • Sort Order: Display frequencies in ascending or descending order

  • Display Priority: Choose whether to show One Time Purchase or Subscriptions first

Content Customization

In the Purchase Options tab, you can:

  • Edit title, subtitle, and badge text for each selling plan (Expanded view)

  • Customize colors and styling to match your brand

  • Set up compelling copy that converts browsers into subscribers
