What are Session Recordings for Dynamic Product Pages?
Session Recordings for Dynamic Product Pages (DPP) let you watch real user journeys on your product-specific landing pages — every scroll, click, hesitation, and action — in a replayable video format, mapped directly to the product group that received the traffic.
Before this feature, Session Recordings were only available for standard funnels. If your catalog-driven ads were sending traffic to DPP destinations, you had conversion data but no way to see how users were actually engaging with those product pages. You were optimizing blind.
Now you can watch sessions for each product group individually, filter by the same behavioral signals available in funnel recordings, and use a new template filter to narrow down to a specific DPP variant — making it easy to compare user behavior across layout tests.
How to Access Session Recordings for Dynamic Product Pages
1. Navigate to Dynamic Product Pages in the FERMÀT dashboard
From the main navigation, select DPP.
2. Open Session Recordings
In the left sidebar, click Session Recordings. You'll see a list of all your product groups along with the sessions mapped to each.
3. Apply filters
Use the full filter set to narrow your sessions:
Device — desktop or mobile
Traffic Source — e.g., Google, Meta
Template — filter to a specific DPP variant for that product group
Behavioral Tags — rage clicks, dead clicks, U-turns, excessive scrolling
User Actions — viewed, added to cart, checkout started, checkout completed
Intent Score — Low, Medium, or High
4. Click into a session
Select any session to open the recording. Use the playback controls to watch the full user journey.
5. Open the "More Details" panel
Each session includes a detailed context panel showing:
Device — desktop or mobile
Traffic Source — e.g., Google
Destination — the specific DPP destination, e.g., "Backcountry Phase 2"
Product Group — e.g., "Women's Accessories"
Template — the layout variant, with a quick link to edit the template
Category — product category if applicable
Entry Product — the product that brought the user in
Products Viewed — all products the session interacted with
Behavioral Tags — rage clicks, dead clicks (shown when present)
Use Cases
Diagnose why a high-traffic product group has low conversion
You're sending catalog ad traffic to a product group but the CVR is lower than expected. Watch sessions to see if users are rage-clicking on a broken element, scrolling past the add-to-cart, or abandoning on mobile.
Compare user behavior across Dynamic Product Page template variants
You're running an A/B test on two DPP layouts. Use the Template filter to watch sessions from each variant side by side and understand why one converts better — not just that it does.
Identify friction for mobile vs. desktop visitors
Filter sessions by device type to see if mobile users are struggling with elements that work fine on desktop. Dynamic Product Pages often have different scroll and tap behavior that aggregate analytics won't surface.
Understand the journey for high-intent shoppers
Filter to High intent sessions to watch the people most likely to buy. Understanding how your best prospects navigate your product pages is a fast path to layout improvements that move revenue.
FAQs
Does watching a session affect attribution or analytics?
No. Viewing a session recording is read-only and has no impact on conversion data, attribution, or any other analytics in FERMÀT or your connected ad platforms.
Is there a limit to how many sessions I can view?
Session availability depends on your FERMÀT plan and the volume of traffic to your DPP destinations. Contact your FERMÀT account manager if you need higher session retention.
How is DPP Session Recordings different from funnel Session Recordings?
The core recording functionality is the same. The key difference is organization: DPP recordings are grouped by product group, and there's a dedicated template filter that lets you isolate sessions from a specific DPP layout variant — useful when you're experimenting across multiple templates.
Can I use Session Recordings alongside Dynamic Product Page Heatmaps?
Yes, and we recommend it. Heatmaps show aggregate click patterns across all sessions; Session Recordings let you drill into individual journeys for the sessions that stood out. Use heatmaps to spot patterns, recordings to understand them.
Does this work with Pierre (FERMÀT's AI) or experiments?
Session Recordings are available regardless of whether Pierre or an active experiment is running on the product group. The template filter makes it straightforward to segment recordings by experiment variant.
