Shopify Markets Support in FERMÀT

FERMÀT storefronts now automatically detect a shopper's country and display prices in their local currency — from product page through cart and checkout.

What is Shopify Markets Support?

Before now, international shoppers browsing your store would see prices in your default currency, forcing them to do mental math to understand what they'd actually pay. This friction at the critical moment of discovery often killed sales. You'd get traffic from around the world but lose conversions because your pricing felt foreign, literally.

FERMÀT's Shopify Markets support solves this with localized international pricing. When a shopper from the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, or any other supported market visits your store, they instantly see prices in their local currency. They see £42.99 instead of $53, or ¥4,999 instead of $38. This removes friction, builds trust, and increases the likelihood they complete a purchase.

The system works end-to-end: product pages, add to cart, shopping cart, and checkout all display the shopper's local currency automatically. And for you, FERMÀT now tracks revenue by currency in your analytics, so you can see exactly how much you're selling in each market and make smarter decisions about where to focus.

How It Works

Shopify Markets support is designed to be automatic. Set it up once in Shopify, and FERMÀT handles the rest.

  1. Ensure Shopify Markets is configured. In your Shopify admin, go to Markets and set up the international markets where you want to sell. Define the countries you're targeting and the currencies for each market.

  2. FERMÀT automatically inherits your market settings. You don't need to configure anything in FERMÀT. Once your Shopify Markets are live, FERMÀT reads those settings and activates localized pricing across your storefront.

  3. Shoppers see their local currency automatically. When someone visits from an international location, FERMÀT detects their country and switches the storefront to show prices in their local currency. This happens instantly, with no redirects and no friction.

  4. The entire experience is localized. Whether shoppers are browsing product pages, adding items to cart, or going through checkout, they always see prices in their local currency.

  5. Track currency-specific revenue. Open your FERMÀT analytics dashboard. You can now view revenue broken down by currency, giving you clear visibility into which markets are driving the most sales.

FAQs

Do I need Shopify Markets enabled to see localized pricing?
Yes. Localized pricing is powered by Shopify Markets. Set up at least one market in your Shopify admin first, and FERMÀT will automatically start showing localized pricing.

Does localized pricing work with discounts and promotional offers?
Yes. Discounts are applied to the localized price, so a shopper in Japan sees the discount applied to the yen price, always accurate in their local currency.

What currencies and countries does FERMÀT support?
FERMÀT supports all currencies and countries you've enabled in Shopify Markets. To add more, update your Shopify Markets configuration and FERMÀT will recognize the change automatically.

How does localized pricing interact with experiments?
Shoppers in both control and test groups see prices in their local currency. The experiment measures your changes, and localized pricing ensures the price experience is consistent and fair across all markets.

Does this affect checkout or payment processing?
No. FERMÀT displays the shopper's local currency, but payment processing and currency conversion are handled by Shopify Payments or your chosen payment processor.
